Maj. Gen. Carl E. Mundy III has been nominated to lead Marine Corps Forces Central Command and for a promotion to lieutenant general, according to a Defense Department posting Friday.
Mundy is the current commander of Marine Special Operations Command, headquartered out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Mundy took command of the Raiders in August 2016 from then-Maj. Gen. Joseph L. Osterman.
Osterman, now a three-star general, is the deputy commander of U.S. Special Operations Command. He was recently nominated to head up I Marine Expeditionary Force.
