The Marine Corps has yet to refer charges in the death of Private First Class Ethan A. Barclay-Weberpal, who was stabbed following an incident Jan. 16 at the School of Infantry-West in Camp Pendleton, California.
A Marine was taking into confinement following the incident and remains there, spokesman Capt. Joshua Pena told Marine Corps Times.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is still investigating the incident.
The young Marine’s body is on its way home and is expected to arrive Friday evening, according to Facebook posts from his father, Scott Weberpal.
Residents are preparing to line the streets as the Marine is taken to Whitcomb-Lynch Funeral Home, in Janesville, Wisconsin. The funeral is scheduled for Monday morning.
