BURGAW, N.C. — The N.C. Highway Patrol has identified two Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Marines who were killed when their motorcycles collided last weekend.

Troopers told local media outlets that 23-year-old Brent Phelps was on a motorcycle they say was speeding and crossed the center line on a Pender County road and hit another motorcyclist head-on.

Authorities identified the other victim as 23-year-old Colin Cernik.

It’s not known if they knew each other, but WITN-TV in Greenville reported the two men both were assigned to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.
