Test your gaming skills against peers, pros
A nonprofit that lets service members pit their stick skills against professional athletes is spreading the word about its new military gaming network with a worldwide video game competition.
Pro vs. GI Joe has connected troops to athletes via video game consoles since its founding in 2007. Now, with the help of with the help of GGL Global Gaming, it’s launching Military Online Gaming to connect troops to other troops around the world.
Service members can start registering for the network — and the “Call of Duty: World at War” tournament — on Saturday. The competition will run July 27-Aug. 30, and the ten GI Joes left standing will advance to a final in Atlanta in September.
That’s where the Pros come in: The top three finalists will compete with football players from the Atlanta Falcons in person or remotely, depending on whether they’re stationed stateside or overseas. In addition to serious bragging rights, they’ll have the chance to win an all-terrain vehicle.
If you’re ready to take on the entire Defense Department in virtual battle, go to http://mog.ggl.com, create an account and click on the “Competitions” link.
