Allowances: Dislocation allowance

Government-paid moves and travel allowances often fall short of actual costs of permanent change-of-station moves. The nontaxable dislocation allowance covers some of that extra expense. For 2008, the allowance, based on rank and whether a member has dependents, ranges from $784.23 to $3,931.50.
